A Thought on Icelanders and Nature

I always find it interesting to see how tourists in my country are often taken aback by the natural beauty of Iceland. Whilst myself and most Icelanders mostly ignore the beauty around us. The tourists I talk to in my occasional job as a tour guide constantly tell me how envious they are of Icelanders who have the privilege of living in such a beautiful country. When I tell them that me and most of the people I know are not outgoing nature enthusiasts they usually act surprised and find it hard to believe. Personally I think its due to the overexposure to nature Icelanders are subjected to, if you’ve seen one mountain, waterfall or glacier you’ve basically seen them all. At least in my book.
